Chemical Properties

Crosile® 202 3-Chloropropyl)trimethoxysilane, also known as CPTMS, is an organo-silane compound that can form a self-assembled monolayer on different bio-and nano-materials, allowing for their surface modification. CPTMS can be used to silanize various nanoparticles like carbon nanotubes and silica nanoparticles for different applications such as the development of molecularly imprinted polymers for protein detection and the fabrication of mesoporous silica (organic-inorganic hybrid).

Application

Chloropropyltrimethoxysilane Crosile® 202 has various applications, including:

  • Synthesis of octakis(3-chloropropyl)octasilsesquioxane

  • Silanization of nanoparticles such as carbon nanotubes (CNT) and silica nanoparticles (SiO2) for the development of molecularly imprinted polymers for protein detection and fabrication of mesoporous silica (organic-inorganic hybrid)

  • Functionalization of silica-iron oxide nanoparticles, which can be used as catalysts for the synthesis of pyrano(3,2-c:5,6-c’)dichromene-6,8-dione derivatives

  • Use as a raw material for preparing Si-69, KH-550, and other silane coupling agents

  • Use as a rubber processing aid to couple inorganic fillers in various halogenated rubber to improve physical and mechanical properties

  • Synthesis of organosilicon compounds containing quaternary ammonium cations, as antifungal and odor-proof finishing agents, with special bactericidal, odor-proof, antistatic, and surface activity

  • Application as a reinforcing agent and crosslink agent for compound material, ink, gluewater, and sealant material.

3-Chloropropyl trimethoxy silane is insoluble in water and can react with water slowly, but easily triggers hydrolysis cross-linking reaction in an acid or alkaline environment. It also has a good coupling effect with epoxy glass fiber reinforced plastics.
